Privacy policy
This policy applies to the Android app Box Label Maker (version 1.0.0) and the website boxlabelmaker.shop. In short: the app keeps everything on your phone and sends nothing.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
For questions about privacy and for access or deletion requests, write to [email protected]. This is the only contact address for support and privacy.
2. What data the app processes
The app processes only what you enter yourself: your projects (name, code prefix, first box number, optional moving day, the optional places you move from and to, notes and tags), the rooms of the new place (name, floor or area), your boxes (number, title, room, category, size, status, the fragile / this way up / heavy / open first marks, tags, notes, and when a label was last made), the items in each box (name, quantity, note), your own box templates, settings and the history of changes.
3. Stored only on your phone
All data is kept in the app's private storage on your device. There is no account, no server and no cloud sync. The app has no internet permission and therefore cannot send data. We, the developers, receive none of your data and can neither see nor restore it.
4. QR codes
The QR codes on the labels are generated on your phone. They contain only the text you see in the app's label preview – the box code, or the code with room, title, contents and handling marks, as you choose. They contain no link and no identifier, and the app does not read QR codes: it has no scanner and no camera access.
5. Printing, export, sharing and backup
Data leaves your phone only when you choose: you can print label sheets through the Android print service, save or share them as a PDF, export the box list of a project as a PDF, a CSV file or text, and save a backup of all data as a file. You send these files through the Android share menu to an app of your choice, save them in a folder you pick or hand them to the printer you select. What happens to them afterwards is governed by that app, printer service or storage location. When you import a backup, the app reads the file you selected locally.
6. No analytics, no adverts, no tracking
The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools, does not use the advertising ID and shows no adverts. There are no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.
7. Permissions
The app asks for no permissions. It has no access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or other files. Files for import are chosen by you in the Android file picker; exports are saved through the system folder picker or the share menu. The app sends no notifications.
8. How long data is kept and how to delete it
Your data stays on the phone until you delete it: single items, boxes, rooms or a whole project, or everything under More › Your data › Delete all data. Uninstalling the app also deletes all data. Printed labels and exported files remain wherever you put them.
9. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 (and the EU GDPR where it applies) you have rights of access, correction and deletion. Because we hold no personal data from the app, you exercise these rights directly in the app. You can also contact us at the address above or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
10. Children
The app is an organising tool for adults and is not directed at children.
11. This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. It serves static pages, images and fonts from its own server; the hosting provider may keep short technical access logs (such as IP address and time of access) to operate the server securely.
12. Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your data, we will update this policy before the new version is released. Last updated: October 2026.
